Arbil/ Iraq TradeLink: Kurdish President Masoud Barzani criticized what he called "international

players" in their stands against the Kurdish independence referendum.

He expressed his regret that these players preferred their interests above ethics and human principles.

"The Kurdish people prefer to die of hunger, but not to remain under the occupation of others", he confirmed in an interview with US Foreign Policy magazine.

He added that the Kurds exerted much efforts to preserve the unity of Iraq, pointing that Kurdish-Baghdad relations has two stages, the first since World War I to 2003 and the second from 2003 till now.

Barzani elaborated that the result of the first stage is the genocide against the Kurds , and the second stage was characterized by decreasing Kurdish shares in the national budget and non-abidance by the Iraqi constitution.

"In this case, our question to the world players and others: What shall we do?", he questioned.

He rejected the statements of the world players against the referendum, pointing that the referendum will lead to stability in the region.
