    Russia's permanent representative to the United Nations said Wednesday that the UN Security Council failed to issue a press statement condemning the bombing of the Russian embassy in Damascus.
    The Russian representative confirmed that several members of the Security Council refused to consider the short press release distributed by the Russian side, on the grounds that there is no evidence that these attacks have a terrorist character.
    The statement pointed out that the statement condemned the bombing of the Russian Embassy in Damascus on Monday and Tuesday with missiles fired from the neighborhood of Jopar, where the presence of terrorist organizations is still tangible, and indicates that such attacks have intensified recently.
    The representative added that several non-named States sought to remove the document from its content, prompting the Russian party to conclude that the continuation of work on the statement makes no sense.
    The Russian side stressed that the statement was based on the usual diplomatic formulas in the field of combating terrorism and the immunity of diplomatic representations, expressing Moscow's disappointment at the position of these members of the Security Council on the document.
    "Despite statements by these partners that they are committed to fighting terrorism, they try again and again to repel the strike against those who, in their opinion, can help them implement their destructive geopolitical plans in Syria," the statement said.
