The Ministry of Water Resources held talks on Tuesday with an Iranian delegation on the Shatt al-Arab and activating the watercourse between the two countries.

"A delegation from the Ministry of Water Resources headed by expert Aoun Diab held a meeting with an Iranian delegation, which dealt with resolving the border disputes on the Shatt al-Arab and activating navigation in the watercourse," a ministry statement said.

She added that "the meeting was attended by a number of advanced staff of the Ministry's formations and a representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs."

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif announced last Wednesday that he had reached an agreement with Iraq to work on the Arund River in Basra and implement the 1975 Algiers agreement.
