The National Human Rights Committee in Qatar called on the Saudi authorities to remove obstacles and difficulties for pilgrims from Qatar, while stressing that the UAE authorities are discriminating against Qatari students.
The head of the committee, Ali bin Samikh al-Marri said that Saudi Arabia has since the beginning of the blockade to facilitate the procedures of Hajj for citizens of the two countries as well as Umrah, but - unfortunately - on the ground received the Committee cases of expulsion of Qatari citizens from the hotels of the campus.
Al-Marri said that during the last Ramadan, Qatari citizens were not allowed to go to Umrah. He added that the National Committee had received complaints from the Hajj campaigns, which confirmed that they face many difficulties and obstacles to the Hajj this year.
He pointed out that the Committee called in a statement to the Saudi authorities to facilitate the procedures of Hajj, and also called for lifting the obstacles and difficulties for the pilgrims of Qatar.
Al-Marri stressed that the committee did not demand the internationalization of the pilgrimage or that the holy places be under international supervision.
Al Marri called on the Saudi authorities to open direct routes from Doha to Jeddah and open the land port to pilgrims from Qatar who are low-income residents who can not fly by air.
On the situation of students, the head of the National Committee for Human Rights in Qatar confirmed that the UAE authorities are racially discriminating against Qatari students. "We affirm that this is racial discrimination against Qataris," he said.
