    Oil markets jumped on Monday on concerns about possible new US sanctions on Iran and a conflict in Iraq, while prices were bolstered by a US drilling rig and declining exploration activities.
    By 0645 GMT, global benchmark crude <LCOc1> was up 65 cents, or 1.1 percent, at $ 57.82 a barrel.
    Concerns about US sanctions on Iran have pushed crude back on the rise.
    US President Donald Trump on Friday refused to endorse Tehran's commitment to the nuclear deal.
    There are also concerns about the stability of Iraq, OPEC's second largest oil producer after Saudi Arabia.
    Iraqi forces seized control of a number of sites south of Kirkuk from Kurdish forces, including the "North Gas Plant ... and a refinery next to the gas facility" as well as the industrial district south of the city, an Iraqi military statement said on Monday.
    US crude prices have helped to cut companies' number of rigs looking for new production.
    West Texas Intermediate crude <LCOc1> was $ 51.89 a barrel, up 44 cents, or 0.9 percent.

    Oil markets recorded a rise in price per barrel to more than $ 57 on Monday after fears of the recent events in Kirkuk.
    US benchmark Brent crude <LCOc1> rose 65 cents, or 1.1 percent, to $ 57.82 a barrel by 0645 GMT.
