Oil: No pipeline with Kuwait and we will export its gas

     Baghdad / Zahraa al-Jassim

The Ministry of Oil, that the agreement with the Dutch-British Shell to establish a giant petrochemical plant, has reached the final stages, and said that the project will make Iraq able to the petrochemical industry, which will be a major financial resource for the country, was surprised to talk about the establishment of a pipeline between Iraq and Kuwait and a petrochemical plant, indicating that the agreement with Kuwait only requires the transfer of small amounts of raw gas from the Rumaila South.
In 2010, Iraq and Kuwait agreed, in principle, to exploit border oil fields, which had been a source of conflict in the past, with the agreement finalized last year.
The spokesman for the Ministry of Oil Assem Jihad, said in an interview for (range): was agreed between Iraq and Kuwait to transfer quantities of raw gas to Kuwait, after we found that instead of burning this gas from the field of Rumaila South we can begin to transport small quantities of it size 50 Million standard cubic feet per day to gradually reach 200 million standard cubic feet per day for Kuwait. We have come a long way in this matter, as we have finished all aspects of the agreement on export mechanisms and others, but this has nothing to do with what was published about the pipeline pipeline for export The gas between Iraq and Kuwait, as well as to know where this news came from, all we know is that ATF We have agreed with Kuwait to export these quantities of gas. Even if we start to build a pipeline, it will not take two months. The distance between the two countries is close to 30 kilometers.
And between Jihad: What is left now with Kuwait is to agree only on the pricing of the gas unit, to be exported soon, steadily: Even if the pipeline, we have an old line between Iraq and Kuwait and we can benefit from it through rehabilitation, so we see that the report that The publication of the issue of gas pipeline was mined, especially as it indicates that this harms Shell, and here we confirm that there are intentions and objectives behind this talk.
Jihad stresses that even in the case of the export of gas to Kuwait, this comes from Kuwait's need for gas for internal use, it has an urgent need for it, so we instead of burning this gas as a heavy, we agreed to export to Kuwait, which has a compressor and other things, That gas, at a time when there are proposals to be calculated after the quantities and pricing, to pay part of the imports of this gas of Iraq's compensation to Kuwait and that's all, it reveals at the same time that the most important issue we have now is the agreement between the Ministries of Oil and Industry with Shell Dutch Dutch "on the project to establish a petrochemical plant Wyatt under the name of the project "Nebras"
He continued: The project to establish a giant petrochemical plant, which will be implemented by Shell through the Gas Company of Basra, which will invest gas now in a number of fields, the purpose is to invest gas invested for export, in addition to internal uses, so it is a large and important project will be a resource and financial income Iraq, the fact that the petrochemical industries benefit in a lot of products such as fertilizers, plastic and other industries, and we expect to see this project light in the next few years, being under study after being agreed with Shell by the Ministries of Industry and Oil, T the same, as the only project that we have on the petrochemical industry, is therefore has nothing to do with the subject of Kuwait, we do not know what mentioned in the report on the establishment of a petrochemical plant.
According to press reports, Iraq has chosen Japan's Toyo Engineering Co. to help build a gas pipeline to Kuwait and a related petrochemical plant as Baghdad seeks to reduce gas burn and pay compensation due to the invasion of Kuwait in 1990. The project, Which has not yet announced its details, will allow Kuwait to diversify sources of gas imports in the wake of a political crisis between the Gulf states and Qatar, the main supplier of gas, considering that it would also be a blow to Royal Dutch Shell, which was seeking to dominate the gas in Iraq, before damaged relations with Baghdad in Following its withdrawal from NAF projects Yeh great.
It is estimated that Iraq has a stockpile of 131 trillion cubic feet of gas, but quantities of up to 700 million cubic feet are burned daily due to lack of investment optimization over the past decades, where the proportion of investment of natural gas accompanying during the past year to 50 percent of the quantities Producing 3 billion cubic feet per day.
