Yedioth Ahronoth reported that a group of 63 Israeli citizens in compulsory service sent a letter to the authorities today, in which they refused to serve in the army as a result of the government's policy of racism against the Palestinian people.
"The Israeli army applies the racist policy of the government, which violates basic human rights, adopts laws for Israelis and is completely different from the Palestinians in one area, and therefore we have decided not to participate in controlling and suppressing the Palestinian people," the letter said.
The authors noted that the Israeli government was pursuing a "policy of incitement at the institutional level" directed against the Palestinians on both sides of the Green Line.
The letter was addressed to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman, Education Minister Naftali Bennett and Chief of Staff Gadi Eisenkot.
"We boys and girls from all over Israel, we represent the various social classes - we reject confidence in the incitement system and refuse to participate in a government institution that is responsible for repression and occupation."
