[ltr]She was fired from her post in March after being held accountable and is currently on charges of bribery and abuse of power in a case that has shaken business and political elite in the country.[/ltr]
[ltr]For her part, John Hay denies any wrongdoing during her reign.[/ltr]
[ltr]Prosecutors' recommendation comes two weeks after 20-year-old Choi Sun-seel, a friend of Pak, was indicted on charges of receiving bribes from large companies including Samsung and the Lotte group.[/ltr]
[ltr]Prosecutors are also demanding a fine of 118.5 billion won ($ 127.1 million) for Pak, who was arrested on March 31 last year.[/ltr]
[ltr]The Bak trial began in May and is expected to be adjudicated before April in a case that has led to scrutiny of close ties between South Korean political leaders and what is known as Samsung Republic, the world's largest maker of smartphones and semiconductors.[/ltr]
[ltr]"Pak, caused a national crisis to allow a person who has never been involved in the administration to rule the country," one of the prosecutors said, according to Reuters. "She and Choi got bribes of tens of billions, but they Still denies its crimes and hinders efforts to reach the truth. "[/ltr]
