The Washington Post reported that improved relations between Iraq and Saudi Arabia are signaling a new era for the region based on increased cooperation between the two countries.
The paper published an opinion piece by David Ignatius summarizing the list of expected objectives of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman's visit to the United States, including "the increased trade cooperation that has become available through (Vision 2030) aimed at diversifying the Saudi economy."
"The improvement of Saudi-Iraqi relations, which signify a new era for the region, is based on increased cooperation and interdependence between the two neighboring countries," the newspaper quoted Asharq Al-Awsat as saying.
Saudi opposition leader Hamza al-Hassan on Wednesday warned of Riyadh's attempts to "divide the ranks" of the Shiite parties and make them a platform to confront Iran, asserting that Iraqi politicians would find Riyadh only "mirage and ruin." Ending / 25
