The Human Rights Commission on Monday called on the Foreign Ministry to appoint a team of lawyers to release Iraqi fishermen detained in Kuwait.
"This is not the first incident by the Kuwaiti Coast Guard and the Iranian authorities to arrest Iraqi fishermen and sailors, because they have exceeded the water allocated to them according to previous agreements," UNHCR spokesman Ali al-Bayati told Baghdad Post.
Al-Bayati called on the government to reconsider and hold new agreements with Kuwait and Iran regarding the shared waters.
