    The Revolutionary Court in the province of Isfahan, central Iran, on Wednesday sentenced one year to reformist politician Gholamhossein Karabasji, the leader of the "building cadres" party in Iran after the court condemned him for "insulting the martyrs" who are fighting in Syria and Iraq. 
    "The Revolutionary Court of Isfahan province sentenced Gholamhossein Karabasji to one year in prison under article 500 of the Islamic Penal Code in Iran after he was convicted of insulting the martyrs of the holy shrines in Syria and Iraq," the judiciary news agency Mezan reported today. . 
    On May 2, Karabasi attacked the policy pursued by the Iranian regime in the region, especially in Syria, Iraq, Yemen and Lebanon, stressing that "the pretexts of our fighting in Syria and Iraq are lies and illusions."
    "The Iranian regime's policy in the region has put us in embarrassing situations and circumstances," Karabasji said in a speech in Isfahan province. "The Iranian fighting in Syria and Iraq is false and lies and has no religious motives." 
    "The unregulated organs in Iran are deceiving young people in the name of religion and defending the holy Shiite shrines in Syria and Iraq, but the reality is that all these pretexts are baseless lies," the reformist politician said, referring to the Revolutionary Guards. 
    The leader of the party of construction cadres in Iran has refused to name the Iranians killed in Syria and Iraq as "martyrs" who defend Shiite sanctities. 
    "We want peace in Syria, Lebanon and Iraq, but defending the oppressed Shiites does not mean buying them with money, giving them arms and getting them into conflict and fighting," he said.
