The President of the Republic Fuad Masum received in Baghdad on Sunday morning US Ambassador to Iraq Douglas Silliman.
A statement issued by Masoum's office said that the latter "reviewed with Sileman ways of enhancing the relations of cooperation between the two countries and the two friendly peoples, as well as the overall political and security developments in Iraq and the region."
During the meeting, Masoum expressed "appreciation for the continued support of the United States in various fields," reiterating that "the call of the House of Representatives elected to be held will be in accordance with the Constitution and the laws in force."
For his part, the US ambassador reiterated his country's support for the stability of Iraq and to continue to provide necessary assistance to Iraqis in all fields in the framework of the strategic agreement between the two countries, according to the statement.
