Turkish lira falls 3% with the reopening of markets and attention to the dispute with America
The Turkish lira fell 3 percent against the dollar on Monday, with local markets resuming after a week-long holiday as investors again focused on the bitter row between Ankara and Washington over a US trial judge in Turkey.
With the dollar rising globally, the Turkish currency fell to 6.19 lira to the dollar, compared with six lira at closing on Friday.
The lira has lost about 39 percent of its value against the US currency since the beginning of the year.
