BAGHDAD / A member of the Presidency of the House of Representatives Hassan al-Kaabi, on Thursday, the intention of the parliament to convene an emergency meeting to discuss the violation of US President Donald Trump to Iraqi sovereignty.
"We will work in consultation with the members of the Presidency of the Council to hold an emergency session to discuss the violation of Iraqi sovereignty by Trump," al-Kaabi said in a brief statement.
US President Donald Trump arrived at the Ain al-Assad base in Anbar province in western Iraq at 19:16 local time, accompanied by First Lady of America, a small group of secret services and a group of journalists.
There has been confusion in Iraq over the secrecy of the US president's visit, claiming that it did not "respect Iraqi customs and sovereignty."
Trump later acknowledged security concerns accompanied his visit to Iraq, expressing "deep sorrow" for having all this secrecy to meet US troops there.
Trump said he was worried about the trip "when I heard what you had to go through."
"I had concerns about the presidential institution, not about myself, I had concerns about the first lady," said the US president, who was accompanied by his wife Melania on his trip.
Trump, who left Washington overnight in a lighted plane, said two "visits" had already occurred after news leaked out.
"It's very sad when you spend $ 7 trillion in the Middle East, that it takes to go there with all this enormous secrecy, the aircraft around you, the world's greatest equipment, and everything to do it safely," he said.
Meanwhile , the office of Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi said in a statement that a meeting between the Iraqi leadership and President Donald Trump was canceled due to disagreements over how to organize the meeting.
The statement added: "It was supposed to be a formal reception and a meeting between Abdul Mahdi and the US president, but a divergence of views to organize the meeting led to the replacement by telephone conversation on developments in the situation."
This is President Trump's first visit to Iraq since taking office in January 2017, following his decision to reduce US troop levels in Afghanistan and complete withdrawal from Syria.
Presidential trips carried out by the leaders of the United States to boost the morale of the soldiers in the war years tradition in the wake of the September 11 , 2001 attacks and is finished 1
