A political source on Saturday revealed the main reason for the National Consultative Meeting at the Peace Palace, which was invited by President Barham Salih last Wednesday.
The source said that "the staff surrounding President Barham Salih and his bottom failed to read the political scene and the lack of understanding of the depth of differences between the components of that scene, so impossible to collect once a call from the presidency to a national consultative meeting."
"The most important goal of the meeting was to devote the image of Barham Salih as a different president capable of influencing and bringing the parties around his person to a unified position on the country's major issues," he said.
The source pointed out that "Saleh has moved since taking over the post of president in intensive and in each direction using the personality and the international network to prove the effectiveness of his role in the scene and beyond the complex image of the President and his form and lack of powers.
The first national consultative meeting (Wednesday 27 February 2019) was held at the Peace Palace in Baghdad in the presence of various government and political figures, headed by Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi and Parliament Mohamed Halboussi, in the absence of former Prime Minister Haider Abadi and the leader of the wisdom movement Ammar al-Hakim.
