The Abadi coalition responds to Hakim and sends a message to the government of Abdul Mahdi on Iran

The coalition of parliamentary victory, led by former Prime Minister Haider Abadi, on Monday, a letter to the Iraqi government, on the conflict and the dangerous escalation between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran.
"On the conflict between the United States and the Islamic Republic, we as the State of Iraq, we count the interest of the country and the Iraqis, and make this interest is the highest in this conflict," said the spokesman of the bloc Falah al-Khafaji, told Ashqaf News.
Al-Khafaji said that "all the governmental and political bodies have to give any interest to the interests of Iraq and the Iraqis, even if Iran is our neighbor and provided us with aid during the war with a sympathetic organization, but Iraq does not hold until it can confront the United States of America.
"Iraq can play the role of mediator between the United States and Tehran, and it is not part of this conflict and the interest of any country at the expense of the Iraqis," he said.
Iraqi officials have warned of the "dangers of war" during a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Jawad Zarif in Baghdad, which fears Iraq could become the scene of any development in tensions between Washington and Tehran.

Zarif's visit to Iraq comes shortly after US President Donald Trump announced the dispatch of 1,500 more troops to the Middle East after the Pentagon referred to "imminent threats from Iran."
Tehran condemned the US decision as "a threat to world peace and security".
Zarif said during a press conference with his Iraqi counterpart Mohammed Ali al-Hakim in Baghdad that his country "to address any war efforts against Iran, whether economic or military wants to sacrifice the Iranian people," asserting "we will face them firmly and steadfastly."
"We, along with our Iranian neighbor and economic sanctions, are not useful and exacerbate the suffering of the Iranian people," Hakim said.
On Saturday evening, Iraqi Prime Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi condemned Zarif's "dangers of war" and stressed the importance of "security and stability in the region."
The Iraqi foreign minister "encouraged" on Friday the Islamic Republic to respect the agreement on its nuclear program, which is threatened by the US withdrawal and Tehran's suspension of some of its commitments.
Relations between Tehran and Washington deteriorated following the US president's decision in May 2018 to withdraw from the nuclear deal and re-impose economic sanctions on Iran.
Iraq, which is an extraordinary forum for the United States and Iran that are hostile to each other, has declared its willingness to mediate a halt to the escalation.
Thousands marched on Friday in Baghdad and Basra in the south of the country, raising the slogan "no to war" in Arabic, English and Persian, refusing to plunge Iraq into the conflict between Washington and Tehran.
