The Iraqi Army has developed the Russian-made BMB-1 armored vehicle that is still in its possession.
It was decided to replace the old 73-mm Grom cannon with an automatic gun. The Iraqi military option was signed on a 2mm14 23 mm cannon known to be used in the dual-anti-aircraft ZO-23-2 system.
The cannon can destroy various targets, including light armored targets over 2000 meters, at a speed of 800 to 1000 rounds per minute.
The cannon weighs only 76 kilograms. It is about two meters long.
The first experiments were conducted in the spring of last year when photographs of the first BMP-1 armed with a 23-mm cannon were published.
The remaining BMP-1 armor is expected to arm the cannon if the test succeeds.
The Iraqi army is currently developing a Russian-made T-55 tank. The Iraqi army had posted on the Internet a video showing the tank "sponsor - 1" moving and throwing from the cannon 100-mm day and night.
