, a deputy in parliament announced, Tuesday, a date for the appointment of the new prime minister, revealing two other reasons to resolve the file.
The independent deputy, Abbas Al-Atafi said, "The three authorities are still in Iraq, so the failure to assign a prime minister to date is a constitutional transgression, in addition to that the position of prime minister has turned into a caretaker and there is no constitutional vacuum for the existence of the authorities in a practical and existing way."
He added, "The constitutional period is binding and the president of the republic must name a prime minister during it," noting that "the largest bloc is known and it was the one that mandated Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi previously."
Al-Atafi stressed that "all the personalities that have been put forward by the political blocs are political entities and do not represent the opinion of the deputies, the demonstrators, and the street, and there are many independent personalities that are the leaders of the city."
The deputy pointed out, "The failure to choose a personality by the President of the Republic within the constitutional terms came to satisfy the political blocs and demonstrators at the same time, so the nomination of the Prime Minister was delayed," suggesting that "the President of the Republic nominated for prime minister may be appointed during the next two days."
