    Citizens: Prices at normal levels
    Baghdad/ Farah al-Bat

Although hundreds of products have been suspended for nearly a month, markets have not been clearly affected, as in developed countries, if hundreds of tons of diverse food and vegetables enter Baghdad and the provinces every day.
The Baghdad Operations Command confirmed that 14,749 food wheels had entered the capital since the curfew began, in cooperation with the Baghdad Chamber of Commerce.
"Wholesale centers and others have been able to meet the market's need so far," economist Thamer al-Azzawi said in a statement to Al-Sabah.

    Animal production
"During the period of the embargo, the ministries of agriculture and commerce succeeded in building bridges of trust between farmers, animal production companies, merchants and citizens," he said.
However, he noted that "many imported products are beginning to become scarce in the market, calling on the crisis cell to exclude the support of factory owners and workers to fill the void." "The prices of food and vegetables have not risen much above their levels and are below the permissible limit," citizens said.

    Necessary needs
"When we hear the news and contact relatives in some Arab and Western countries talking about food scarcity, we thank God, especially since most of the necessary and basic needs are available," they told Al-Sabah.
They stressed "the importance of speeding up the disbursement of the emergency grant that the government has launched, especially as hundreds of thousands of citizens have been affected by the curfew."
Agriculture Minister Saleh al-Hasani said: "The price hikes are due to the weak souls of the sellers in the markets and we ask economic security to control prices."
Amid this picture, the Baghdad Chamber of Commerce has unveiled proposals to address the problems experienced by traders due to the current situation.
    Business
"The most prominent of these proposals is to solve the issue of selling the dollar by selling it directly to merchants, as well as facilitating the entry of food into all commercial areas without any obstacles," said Omar al-Sudani, director of the supervision and follow-up department at the Baghdad Chamber of Commerce.
Al-Sudani pointed out that "the Baghdad Chamber of Commerce went to the local markets and followed all prices, and what is going on in the stores and was diagnosed weaknesses and problems and purity inside the stores," pointing out that "the chamber listened to all traders, and saw the most prominent problems."
    Truck entry
"The problems of traders are that food is entering the commercial areas of Baghdad, as well as the suspension of the sale of the dollar from the central bank, which led to higher exchange rates," he said, adding that "the Baghdad Chamber of Commerce transferred these problems to the prime minister and spoke to the people concerned."
"The prime minister promised that in the coming days the dollar will be sold directly to the trader and to all bureaux de change and private banks, in addition to facilitating the movement of trucks for the transport of materials," he said.
