Member of the Parliamentary Economic and Investment Committee, Yahya Al-Ithawi, on Wednesday, attributed the reason for the delay in the distribution of the ration card items and the delivery of all items for the individual to the lack of financial allocations, stressing that the allocation of the card’s items does not exceed, at best, a trillion Iraqi dinars.
Al-Ithawi said, in a statement to Al-Maalouma, that "the discrepancy in the processing of the ration card items is due to the lack of financial allocations from the general budget, which decreased to a quarter of what was allocated to it in the past years."
He added that "the contracting and processing mechanisms need time, especially since the import of sugar and oil needs a period of two months," noting that "the financial conditions and the lack of sufficient financial allocations make the situation of the processing operations difficult and suffers from major shortcomings."
Al-Ithawi pointed out that "there is a tendency for the Parliamentary Economy and Investment Committee and the House of Representatives to improve the ration card items, in terms of quantity and quality, during the coming period."
