The US ambassador to Baghdad, Matthew Tueller, confirmed, on Sunday, that his country is looking forward to normal Iraqi-Iranian relations that serve the interests of all.
A statement by the Office of the National Security Adviser Qassem Al-Araji, a copy of which was received by Mawazine News, said, "The latter received the American ambassador in Baghdad, Matthew Toller, and discussed the security and political situations at the regional and international levels, and ways to enhance cooperation and maintain relations between Baghdad and Washington, in order to achieve security and stability in the region. The repercussions of the al-Hol border camp were also discussed, and the need to find a real and practical solution to the camp’s survival problem.
Al-Araji pointed out that "the region needs to rearrange its cards again," noting that "Iraq has always sought and continues to be a point of convergence and rapprochement with everyone, in a way that brings security and stability to the region and avoids further conflicts."
For his part, the American ambassador affirmed the agreement with the Iraqi side to quickly follow up the successful session of the strategic dialogue, indicating that his country is seeking because there is no escalation in the regional situation, and that the United States of America is looking forward to normal Iraqi-Iranian relations that serve the interests of all.
He indicated that the Vienna talks with the Iranian side will be to build bridges of confidence between Washington and Tehran.
