    Yes Iraq: Baghdad

The administration of the "Germian" region in the Kurdistan region announced on Tuesday that a drought swept through the region this year due to the lack of rain, calling for the allocation of a financial sum from the emergency budget to cope with this drought.

The Supervisor of the District Administration, Jalal Nuri, said in a press conference held today, that during this year the rates of rainfall were low, so the region is facing drought, indicating that in the near future, the concerned authorities will head to the villages to conduct an assessment of the damage caused by this drought.

According to the local official, more than half of the wheat and barley crops within the administrative boundaries face the risk of perishing due to the lack of rain falling as necessary.

This indicator comes after the Diyala governorate announced the cancellation of 80% of the summer cultivation plan, the drying up of Hamrin Lake and the destruction of hundreds of thousands of tons of cultivated areas of wheat and barley in Khanaqin and its outskirts.
