The Minister of Water Resources, Mahdi Rashid Al-Hamdani, announced, on Wednesday, the start of the implementation of the large Samawah water project on 5-10-2021, which will end the Al-Muthanna governorate's suffering from the scarcity of water.
Al-Hamdani said in a statement, seen by Al-Eqtisad News, that "the project is a pumping station with a drainage of 3 m3 / s, located on the left side of the Shatt al-Shamiya at the front of the regulator of Al-Khournq, linked to a pipeline of diameter (1.40 m) carrying water and a length of (58 How long until the water reaches Rumaitha district, the provider of the Rumaitha liquor station, and the station consists of (9) vertical drainage pumps, each of which is (0.5) m3 / s.
He added, "After the worsening of the problem of scarcity at the end of the nineties, the Ministry of Water Resources found solutions to this problem, represented by the implementation of the project to strengthen Rumaitha Beach in 2000, but the problem re-emerged after 2003 due to the large number of violations and the lack of accountability for the violations at that time."
Al-Hamdani added, "The large Al-Samawah water project is part of a series of measures implemented by the ministry to eliminate water scarcity in Al-Muthanna Governorate."
