Today, Thursday, the Ministry of Agriculture announced an agreement with the Supreme Judicial Council to set legal controls for the disposal of seized materials.
A statement by the Ministry of Agriculture, received by Al-Naba Agency, stated that "the Minister of Agriculture, Muhammad Al-Khafaji, met with the President of the Supreme Judicial Council, Faiq Zaidan, to discuss the judicial procedures in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture and the security authorities in preventing the entry of products that are prohibited from import, and that are smuggled in and which are not subject to laboratory examination and are not valid. For human consumption. "
The statement indicated that "a mechanism has been discussed to deal with smuggled materials when they are caught by the security services and not to leave things loose without endings, which causes them to be returned to the market again."
Al-Khafaji stressed, according to the statement, the need to cooperate with the Supreme Judicial Council in order to come up with a deterrent mechanism for smugglers through the legal process of disposing of smuggled materials and not recycling them to the market.
The two sides agreed to cooperate in protecting the local agricultural product and curbing smuggling, as well as setting legal controls for the disposal of materials seized by the security services.
