Today, Wednesday, an official in the Kurdistan Regional Government revealed that a delegation from the Kurdistan Regional Government will visit the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, next week, to hold discussions with the federal government on technical matters related to the federal financial budget.
Adviser to the Prime Minister of Kurdistan Regional Government for Financial Affairs, Rebaz Hamlan, said in a statement to reporters on the sidelines of the “Unity and the Constitution” conference in Erbil, including a (Basnews) correspondent that “a delegation from the Kurdistan Regional Government will visit Baghdad next week to hold discussions with the federal government on technical matters related to the implementation of the law The federal financial budget for the current year ”.
In early February, after strenuous discussions that lasted for more than 3 months, the Iraqi parliament approved the federal budget for 2021, with total expenditures amounting to 129 trillion dinars, and a deficit of 28 trillion.
The agreement between Baghdad and Erbil regarding the region’s share was included in the budget, which provides for the region to deliver 250,000 barrels of oil per day, along with half of the other financial revenues of the federal government, in exchange for a share of 12.6 percent of the budget.
Hamlan, a former finance minister in the Kurdistan Regional Government, added that the delegation includes technicians from the Ministries of Finance and Natural Resources in the Kurdistan Regional Government.
In the context, and about whether the regional government will continue to deduct a percentage of the employees ’salaries, a measure the government has resorted to in light of the financial crisis facing the region, Hamlan said that“ this issue depends on implementing the budget law and sending Baghdad to Kurdistan’s share of it. ”
Explaining, by saying, "If Baghdad sends the region's share of the budget and it is sufficient with internal imports of oil, taxes and customs, then there will be no deduction in salaries."
Adding, "But if this is not done, the deduction rate will remain according to the imports available to us," adding, "But the deduction will be less in this month than the previous months, and the more imports, the smaller the rate of deduction from salaries."
