Iran is moving to develop a huge joint oil field with Iraq

In the presence of Oil Minister Bijan Zangana, memoranda were concluded today, Monday, with 5 local oil exploration and production companies for conducting studies on the Azadakan field, located in the southwest of the country and shared with the Iraqi Majnoon field.
The first memorandum was entered into by the National Oil Company with the "Brescia" Oil and Gas Company to conduct feasibility studies on the northern section of the field, the second memorandum with "Petropars" and "Petro-Iran" companies for the middle section, and the third with the "Kesters Energy Passarcad" and "Energy Dana" companies for the southern section.
"Azadakan" is the largest joint Iranian field with an area of 1,500 square kilometers, with estimated reserves of 32 billion barrels of oil, and is currently being developed on the northern and southern sides.
The northern Azadcan field was inaugurated 5 years ago with a production capacity of 75 thousand barrels per day, developed by the Chinese company "CNBC", while contracts were concluded with the Iranian company Petropars to complete the first development stage of the southern Azadcan field in addition to the establishment of a processing unit (CTEP) after the dissolution Contracting with the same Chinese company in 2014.
