{Local: Al-Furat News} The Ministry of Water Resources has transferred work on the Al-Bidaa canal project in Basra to next year, due to the lack of financial allocations.
He said the ministry adviser to the official spokesman, Aoun Diab Abdullah, in a press statement, " The project aims to transform the open channel innovation to the pipeline tanker, with a view to the lack of Dhaiat water in the course, the appropriations which amounted to three billion dollars, and promised huge
too, a reason In delaying its implementation, despite the issuance of a decision by the Council of Ministers to start it immediately.”
Abdullah added that "the ministry worked to reduce the project's allocations to only $200 million, and it was agreed to implement the last part of the canal, which is 60 km, located within the oil Rumaila area, which is sandy soil containing high percentages of gypsum." When water is pumped in large quantities, this leads to its melting and the occurrence of failures and collapses at the bottom of the lined canal,” noting that “it was set in record time to save the canal from collapse and turn it into pipes, and deliver potable water to Basra.”
He stressed that "all the logistical and technical procedures for the project have ended a while ago, as well as the distribution of partitions among three specialized companies affiliated with the ministry to implement the project," stressing that "the amount of work will be 200 million dollars for the next year."
Abdullah revealed that "there is coordination and cooperation with the Ministry of Planning and the Governorate of Basra to secure the allocations to start the project at the beginning of next year."
