Today, Wednesday, Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein stressed to the President of the General Assembly of the United Nations, Abdullah Shahid, the importance of paying attention to the Palestinian cause .
The ministry stated in a statement that "Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein met with the President of the General Assembly of the United Nations for the 76th session, Abdullah Shahid, on the sidelines of the current session of the United Nations General Assembly," noting that "the President of the United Nations General Assembly thanked the Minister of Foreign Affairs for supporting Iraq in its independence." For this position, he reviewed the priorities that he will work to implement during his current term, in light of facing the challenges posed by the Corona pandemic.
According to the statement, Hussein expressed "Iraq's happiness for Abdullah Shahid to assume the position of President of the General Assembly of the United Nations," noting "Iraq's support for the priorities reviewed by Abdullah Shahid during the meeting."
He stressed “the need for the President of the General Assembly to prioritize the issue of the Palestinian cause, in a way that contributes to restoring the stolen rights to the brotherly Palestinian people.”
