    Today, Monday, the Ministry of Industry and Minerals announced that it had concluded 39 contracts during the past year in 8 fields, including electrical and pharmaceuticals, while revealing future investment opportunities in 3 other fields.
    The Director General of the Investments Department in the Ministry, Seif El-Din Ali Ahmed, said in a statement to the official agency, followed by the “National News Center”: “Our department is concerned with participation, qualification and employment contracts concluded in public companies,” noting that “during the year 2020, our companies concluded 39 distributed partnership contracts. In 13 public companies, as well as in 2021, 13 contracts were signed in 10 public companies.”
    He explained that "the areas of contracts distribute their activities in the fields of electrical, mechanical, construction, food, pharmaceutical, chemical and fertilizer industries," noting that "the department has contracts for rehabilitation, operation and development for suspended, obsolete or destroyed laboratories. “.
    He added, "The concluded contracts are the ones in which the procedures for checking the fundamental papers of companies, letters of guarantee and other procedures that precede the signing of contracts by public companies have been completed," stressing that "there are other contracts under concluding, but you need to check the papers and the rest of the procedures, and the number of contracts will increase during the coming months.” 
    He pointed out that "there are announced investment opportunities and other planned future, which are included in the fields of extractive and manufacturing industries, the most important of which are the phosphate and sulfur industries, which are awaiting approval of the mineral investment law by the House of Representatives," noting that "there are investment opportunities planned also in the field of petrochemical industries, including The establishment of a new petrochemical complex in Basra, as well as the establishment of an integrated plant for the production of fertilizers in the northern region, as well as the production of ammonia and methyl alcohol.
    He pointed out that "the trend towards investing with specialized and discreet companies as an alternative solution for the development of the Iraqi industry due to the lack of the necessary financial allocations in public companies."
