{Local: Al Furat News} A study conducted by the College of Business Economics at Al-Nahrain University showed that the productivity of the Iraqi employee is only 17 minutes per day.
Dean of the college, Dr. Nagham Al-Nama, said in a press statement, "The productivity of the Iraqi employee does not exceed 17 minutes per day, distributed between his arrival at the institution at 8.5 to 9 in the morning, and then breakfast and breakfast continues into the morning and early morning. Or the power goes out after the circuits are included in the programmed cut, which causes the employees to gather in the corridors and yards, until it is time for him to go out at 12 noon after the crowded streets are crowded.”
She added that "Iraq is in dire need of increasing productivity and the number of operating hours to advance the economic reality and reach the ranks of developed countries and achieve resources that protect it from deficits", stressing that the citizens and jobs that need to increase "delays" projects.
And she indicated, "This number of holidays or their announcement in the middle of the night leads to confusion of employees, students and college students, especially on exam days, and this is not found in countries of the world that depend on days and occasions known to all."
Al-Nima explained that “Iraq needs a law that regulates holidays, like other countries, as their large number causes losses in time, productivity and development,” noting that “there is a contradiction in the Iraqi situation, which confirms that it is the most country with employees and the majority of the budget goes to pay their salaries and most of it.” Holidays that cause material losses to the government.
And the Dean of the College of Business Economics explained that “the Iraqi employee suffers from (inaction) due to the closure caused by the (Corona) pandemic during the past two years,” proposing “to reconsider this large number of holidays, which cause both Friday and Saturday holidays in all sectors in the country.” ".
As for the economic expert, Mustafa Akram Hantoush, he stated that "it is necessary to think about taking advantage of the holidays and bringing an economic return to the state and the Iraqi market."
He said, "The cost of official holidays in Iraq is very high due to the decline in national output and performance, especially in service departments."
And he indicated that "the countries enjoy many holidays, but they are exploited, where the employee goes out for a picnic or trip or goes to a place of entertainment, which does the tourism and transport sectors, while in Iraq the employee is forced to stay at home or go abroad, causing great losses for the country.
