Health expects a significant increase in Omicron injuries

The Ministry of Health expected a rise in infections with the Corona “Omicron” mutant, denying any shortage in equipping hospitals with oxygen, while yesterday more than 7,200 new infections were recorded.
The ministry's spokesman, Saif Al-Badr, said, "The issue of recording high infections with the omicron mutant is very relevant, especially for high-risk groups."
Al-Badr added, "The media, in any case, should take news about the epidemiological situation from its official sources in the Ministry of Health."
He pointed out, "The current percentage of Amicron infections is currently not less than a third of the cases registered with the Corona virus in Iraq, to half of them, and it may increase in the coming days."
Al-Badr explained, "These indicators come in conjunction with the epidemiological situation in all countries of the world, and that the last mutation is characterized by a faster spread."
He stressed, "Most of the injured are people who did not receive vaccines during the past period," noting that "scientific research confirmed that the one who receives the two doses, in addition to the third, achieves very high protection while adhering to the rest of the preventive measures."
Al-Badr noted, “The margin of infection for the person who received the vaccine, although it is very weak, will be very slight, and often does not require hospitalization.”
He explained, "These results were reached through practical experiments, after two years of dealing with Corona injuries."
Al-Badr pointed out, "The Iraqi government expected that the country would enter a new epidemic wave, and it continued, after the third wave, in the policy of developing diagnostic and therapeutic capabilities with the increase in the number of beds for Corona patients."
And he added, "The laboratories have also witnessed development, and that the Omicron mutant in Iraq was detected internally and with national hands and national expertise."
Despite Al-Badr’s talk about “the dangerous data that show the clear deterioration in the epidemiological situation,” he stated that “the Ministry of Health until the present time is able to deal with the situation in general, whether for people infected with corona or the rest of the patients.”
He stated, "The provision of beds, medical supplies and equipment was done in full, as well as oxygen, as it is available in all institutions."
Al-Badr went on, “The decisions related to closing and other matters such as reducing official working hours or switching to e-learning are all linked to the Supreme Committee for National Health and Safety, but we note, despite all the appeals and press releases, that preventive measures are still absent from the Iraqi street.”
Yesterday, the Ministry of Health conducted 26,416 laboratory tests, in which 7,217 new cases of the virus appeared, and the Ministry recorded 13 deaths, with 5,759 patients recovering, and 51,628 people receiving the anti-vaccine.
It is noteworthy that Iraq has witnessed, since the beginning of this year, a new epidemic wave with the registration of infections with the Omicron mutator, amid a clear decline in the levels of vaccination and commitment to preventive measures.
