The economic expert, Muhammad Jamal, confirmed, on Saturday, that Iraq can achieve self-sufficiency in natural gas and export its surplus, considering the agreements concluded with Riyadh as an attempt to polish its image in front of the Iraqis.
Jamal said in a statement to "The Information", that "instead of seeking help from Saudi Arabia and resorting to it, and flooding the country with debts, Iraq can contract with international companies and achieve self-sufficiency in gas."
He added that "the agreement signed with Saudi Arabia is nothing more than being of political purposes and an attempt to polish Riyadh's image among the citizens of Iraq, as happened in previous files."
Political and social forces expressed their rejection of the agreement with Saudi Arabia because of Riyadh's precedent in supporting terrorism in Iraq.
