The evacuation of civilians from the republics of Lugansk and Donetsk to Russia, whose numbers reached tens of thousands, continues, as the Ukrainian armed forces continue to bombard residential areas in the two republics.
More than 20,000 people were evacuated from there to neighboring Russian territory in one day, and the report of the Border Directorate of the Russian Federal Security Service in the neighboring Rostov region stated: “The Border Administration of the Russian Federal Security Service of the Rostov region reported that during the past day, more than 20,000 citizens of the territory of the republics of Lugansk and Donetsk borders through the checkpoints.
The total number of evacuees from the Lugansk Republic in four days amounted to more than 48,8 thousand people, most of them children and women, including 12,324 children.
Earlier, the leadership of the Lugansk and Donetsk republics announced the temporary evacuation of their citizens to the Russian Rostov region, in light of the escalation and violent bombardment by the Ukrainian army of residential areas and public facilities in Donbass, southeast Ukraine.
Many Russian regions have expressed their full readiness to provide the necessary assistance to receive refugees from the Donbass region.
