[rtl]The Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraq, Masrour Barzani, said today, Monday, that he is confident that the region, which has enjoyed a semi-independent administration from Baghdad since 2003, will soon become an important source of energy and will be exported to Turkey .[/rtl]
[rtl]On the sidelines of the World Energy Forum in Dubai, Barzani stressed that he is "confident that the region will soon become an important source of energy, and it will be exported to Turkey in the near future ."[/rtl]
[rtl]He added, according to Turkish TRT TV , that "we can help countries in the region and others in meeting their energy needs and we will do so, and we have the production capacity to make up at least some of the shortfall in Europe ."[/rtl]
[rtl]This is the first time that an Iraqi official has explicitly stated about the possibility of exporting Iraqi gas abroad, despite the presence of many technical obstacles standing in front of this, most notably the infrastructure of gas fields in northern Iraq within the Kurdistan region, or the political and legal aspects related to the absence of an agreed law regarding investment Natural resources in the Kurdistan region of Iraq .[/rtl]
