Today, Friday, Member of Parliament Ahmed Taha Al-Rubaie revealed a parliamentary move to diversify sources of financial revenue, calling for investing these revenues to support the national economy.
Al-Rubaie said in a statement, "There is a parliamentary movement within the parliament to diversify the sources of the Iraqi economy, and not to rely on oil only as a hostage to political events and fluctuating prices up and down, and as a result, Iraq must depend on oil at a moderate rate."
Al-Rubaie called for “the necessity of diversifying other sources of revenue, including agriculture, which represents a good source of revenue if supported, and there may be self-sufficiency for many agricultural products,” noting that “there are many factories that are out of business, and if they are rehabilitated and invested well, they will serve The country will greatly contribute to not relying on external sources such as imports and others.”
He added, "Other sources of diversification that will contribute to the recovery of the country's economy is tourism, including religious ones, through the preparation and planning of the tourism project to be an important source for the country, stressing that" the Faw port project, if its completion is speeded up, will be an important source of revenue, as well as a major key. to employ a lot of the unemployed.
He pointed out that “Iraq is an oil country, and its revenues depend more than 90% as a budget on oil revenues, and it has many and diverse areas in the economy, so it does not depend on a single resource or a single field in its resources, which is to maximize non-oil revenues, whether with regard to trade or tourism. Or agriculture or industry, all of which have their qualifications.”
He stressed that "there must be a serious and real will from the state to diversify resources and maximize the main income for the budget in the non-oil fields, as well as ports and trade exchange with countries, especially since Iraq has a strategic location linking the East with the West, pointing out that" diversifying sources of revenue. It needs the government’s solidarity first, and with the concerned authorities secondly.” End/25
