Shafaq News/ The Ministry of Municipalities and Tourism in the Kurdistan Regional Government announced today, Sunday, that Erbil Governorate alone received nearly 700,000 tourists during the first quarter of this year, including more than 100,000 from foreign countries.
The ministry said in a statement it issued, regarding the details of the region's preparations to receive tourists for the days of Eid al-Fitr, which was received by Shafak News Agency, that "all hotels, restaurants and tourist facilities will be ready to receive tourists," stressing that it will monitor the prices and services provided to them.
The statement explained that within the framework of the ministry's plans to pay more attention to the tourism sector in the region, the number of Iraqi and foreign tourists has increased, and it is expected that those numbers will increase during the days of the Eid al-Fitr holiday, noting that the Erbil Governorate alone received 671,146 tourists who visited the tourist areas, including About 100,000 foreign tourists.
The statement quoted the Director General of Tourism in Erbil, confirming in this regard, that all tourist establishments will receive tourists in the best way, explaining that the directorate has taken all necessary preparations and measures such as forming special committees to secure the necessary services for tourists at the crossings.
The statement indicated the formation of a committee to follow up the conditions of tourists in tourist facilities and to provide full services.
And regarding the preparations of hotels, tourist homes and restaurants to serve tourists, the statement explained that the ministry recommended the Association of Restaurants and Guest Houses in the region, the Erbil branch, to ensure that its restaurants are opened to tourists during the days of Eid al-Fitr, pointing out that there is a special committee that was formed in order to monitor prices with dozens of other measures that have been taken.
