The spokesman for the Federal Ministry of Interior, Major General Khaled Al-Muhanna, announced that "the Ministry of Interior has made efforts in the field of disarming unlicensed weapons, and there is a higher committee headed by the Minister of Interior that prepares plans and strategies in relation to disarmament."
Al-Muhanna said, "The committee's plan revolves around carrying out permanent campaigns, especially in areas experiencing conflict, and unlicensed firearms are seized, and during the last period, we have acquired more than 7,000 light and medium weapons that were seized and confiscated."
He referred to the other efforts, "which revolve around awareness and education by special agencies, such as the community police and the Directorate of Clan Affairs, regarding many abnormal phenomena in society, including (tribal brigades), conflicts and possession of dangerous weapons, in addition to other strenuous efforts in the field of preventing the expansion of the issue of weapons possession, as The process of granting licenses to the covered parties has been reduced in accordance with the controls for acquiring light weapons.
