Today.. Parliament resumes its activity after a holiday for more than a month

After a vacation that lasted for more than a month, Parliament will resume its activities today, Wednesday and Thursday, by holding two sessions to discuss a number of projects and laws, amid a parliamentary welcome.
After announcing the return of the sessions, political circles confirmed that the size of the disputes and the quarreling blocs directly affected the functioning of Parliament and its oversight work. There are those who work to transfer crises from the political scene to the parliament.
The last session of Parliament was held at the end of last March and witnessed a vote on amending some paragraphs of the internal system, and on members of the legal committees and on foreign and financial relations.
Since then, Parliament has not held any session, and contented itself with meetings in committees during which it hosted a number of ministers and discussed important issues of food security, water and electricity.
Member of the House of Representatives, Representative Zahra Al-Bajari, said in an interview with Al-Mada that “today and tomorrow’s session will be limited to the first reading of the law criminalizing normalization with the Zionist entity, and voting on the emergency support law for food security and development, as well as completing the formation of parliamentary committees.”
Al-Bajari added that "the session will be far from talking about the issue of choosing the prime ministers and the republic and focus on the draft law on emergency support for food security and development."
She expressed her hope to "end the state of political obstruction after holding the sessions through meetings and intensifying them among the deputies."
In turn, the independent MP, Hussein Al-Sabri, said in an interview with Al-Mada that "the two sessions may be a gateway to breaking the blockage by revitalizing Parliament after its stagnation for more than a month."
Al-Sabri added, "The two sessions are important because of the laws they contain, as well as the formation of parliamentary committees," noting that "political conflicts have caused the sessions to be disrupted more than once."
He called on the deputies to “one dialogue table to end the state of political blockage,” and he went on, “If the crisis remains as it is, we will call as independents for an emergency session to dissolve Parliament,” noting that the issue of “disrupting the formation of the government has negative effects on the lives of citizens.”
Yesterday, Tuesday, Parliament Speaker Muhammad Al-Halbousi chaired the meeting of the Finance Committee on the Emergency Support Law for Food Security and Development.
Al-Halbousi's office stated in a statement received by Al-Mada that "House of Representatives Speaker Muhammad Al-Halbousi chaired the meeting of the Finance Committee on the Emergency Support Law for Food Security and Development."
