The Holy Karbala Governorate intends to operate its oil refinery experimentally in the first quarter of next year, at a time when it is heading to establish a power station with a capacity of 2,800 megawatts.

Governor Nassif Jassem Al-Khattabi said in an interview seen by “The Information”: “Great efforts are being made by the executing company of the aforementioned refinery, with a view to completing and operating it experimentally in the first quarter of next year.”
Al-Khattabi added, "The project implemented by the Oil Products Company in the Ministry of Oil and the Korean Alliance Company, is one of the important strategic projects in the country, as it will provide high-quality local oil products, as well as provide hundreds of job opportunities for the holy people of Karbala in various disciplines."
In another context, Al-Khattabi revealed the governorate's intention to establish a power plant with a capacity of 2,800 megawatts near the Karbala oil refinery, pointing out that this project will be in two phases, each phase with a production capacity of 1,400 megawatts.
He explained, "The fuel for the aforementioned station will be from the Karbala oil refinery, which means that it will continue to generate electric power without problems," stressing that "this project will greatly serve the city, especially in the summer." finished/25
