The local government of Fallujah submits a number of requests to Japan, and its ambassador to Iraq promises to fulfill them
Shafaq News/ The local government of Fallujah district, Anbar Governorate, 60 km west of the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, submitted on Wednesday a number of requests to the government of Japan, regarding the rehabilitation and equipping of the women's and children's hospital in the city.
This came during a visit by the Japanese ambassador to Iraq, Kotaro Suzuki, to Fallujah district, promising to meet these requests.
Suzuki told Shafaq News Agency, "I am happy that there is a children's hospital in Fallujah that works with advanced equipment, despite the passage of a few years since its liberation from ISIS and the disasters it caused in this city."
He added, "I note that the hospital needs rehabilitation and many other requirements, which we will work to provide if Japan agrees to this."
In turn, the mayor of Fallujah district, Juma al-Muhammadi, said that "the visit of the Japanese ambassador to Fallujah came with the aim of reviewing the health services provided by the Women's and Children's Hospital in the city, which the Japanese government had previously provided a grant to rehabilitate and equip the hospital, about nine years ago."
Al-Muhammadi said during his speech to Shafaq News Agency, "After a short period of completion of the work carried out through the Japan grant, the hospital was bombed and robbed, as a result of ISIS control of the province at the time," explaining that "the Women's and Children's Hospital is one of the oldest hospitals in the province." And we urgently need to build a new hospital and demolish these, as a result of the overpopulation that the city and its suburbs are witnessing.”
For his part, the Director of the Women's and Children's Hospital in Fallujah, Allawi Al-Issawi, stated that "the visit of the Japanese ambassador came to see the reality of the hospital, which Japan made a great effort to transform from a general hospital to a private hospital for women and children."
Al-Issawi told Shafaq News Agency, "We explained to the Japanese ambassador that the passage of nine years since the construction and equipping of the hospital, and its exposure to bombing during the ISIS war, in addition to the increase in the population, made us urgently need many requirements that would improve the health situation."
He pointed out that "the Japanese ambassador was very understanding of the requests that were submitted regarding the hospital, which will be submitted through the Japanese government as much as possible."
