Adviser to the Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, Mazhar Muhammad Salih, commented on the theory of Iraq approaching the danger zone after oil prices reached eighty-six dollars a barrel.
Salih said that the assumption that the average price of a barrel of Iraqi exported oil will remain at eighty-six dollars and a daily export capacity is about four million and three hundred thousand barrels of oil per day means that the balance of the annual oil revenue for the upcoming budget is about one hundred and fifty trillion dinars.
He added, that this means that there is a balance in the budget with oil revenues only, if the total spending ceiling is in the amount indicated above, which amounts to one hundred and fifty trillion dinars, pointing out that this is without taking into account what will be achieved from non-oil revenues and an accumulated opening cash balance for the current year and not less than Thirteen to fifteen billion dollars.
