A member of the Parliamentary Agriculture and Water Committee, Rafik Hashim Al-Salhi, called on Thursday, the government to implement an emergency plan to save livestock from extinction and destruction due to drought and lack of fodder.
Al-Salhi said in a statement, "A large number of livestock has been destroyed due to drought and desertification in recent years, which prompted residents of agricultural villages to migrate from the countryside to the city."
He added, "The decline in livestock is a major problem that must be worked quickly to find the necessary solutions."
Al-Salhi pointed out that "the country possesses types of animals that generate income and various products that need greater government attention and attention," calling on the government to "devise an integrated map to preserve livestock, which is a national security issue, and the animal sector must be preserved."
