Today, Friday, the Parliamentary Security and Defense Committee announced new procedures for handing over the security file to the Ministry of Interior, and while it revealed the contents of its meeting with its minister, it pointed out that he stressed the need for a number of requirements to achieve this goal.
Committee member Nayef Al-Shammari said: "The security file must be fully handed over to the Ministry of Interior," noting that "the duty of the army is to intervene in the security situation in the event of any security threat for a specific period or when natural disasters occur."
He added, "Internal security is one of the tasks of the Ministry of Interior and dealing with citizens, and there are procedures for receiving the internal security file from the Ministry of Interior, which is a positive thing."
He pointed out that "the Security and Defense Committee met with the Minister of Interior, who confirmed the Ministry's readiness to handle the internal file, provided that it is supported by arming, equipping, and preparing police stations worthy of the Ministry, because there are centers that are about to fall, and there are centers that do not have wheels, and some centers do not have computers and other needs." .
And he indicated that "the army's departure from the cities will take place according to priority and precedence, and there is a complete plan with the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, in consultation with the Minister of Interior and the Joint Operations Command," noting that "during the next two days, the first military brigades will leave the capital, Baghdad."
