    , the National Coalition headed by Iyad Allawi renewed today, Sunday, its assertion of the need to hold early elections according to the specified date, warning of the repercussions of delaying it.

    He added, "The meeting discussed in detail the issue of early elections, as the conferees stressed that the main task of the current government headed by Muhammad Shia'a al-Sudani lies in creating the appropriate atmosphere for holding early elections according to the period specified by the government program, provided that their conduct precedes the amendment of the parties law and the election law towards considering all Maintaining one electoral district, changing the current election commission and forming a new judicial election commission on the basis of professionalism and independence.






    The meeting called for "coinciding the parliamentary elections with the provincial council elections in order to preserve public money and the need to involve Iraqi citizens abroad and the displaced and give them the right to cast their votes."

    During its meeting, the coalition also stressed the need for effective oversight to prevent any interference, or external or internal material or moral pressures in order to prevent fraud and ensure the integrity of the electoral process, while warning that failure to hold elections within the specified time period will have negative effects on the political process. As a result, the government must bear the national, legal, moral and human responsibility for these negative effects.
