    The Independent/- Iraqi Parliament member Soran Omar said, on Monday, that Defense Minister Thabet Al-Abbasi and Army Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Abdul Amir Yarallah stressed that the Iraqi army is not at the level of providing protection and defense for the country.
    Omar said, in a press statement followed by The Independent, that “the Iraqi parliament met twice regarding the Turkish and Iranian attacks, and the outcome of the meeting was presented to the Iraqi foreign minister, and the National Security Council was also present at the meeting, and all parties condemned the attacks, but security efforts and other efforts did not exceed the level of condemnation.” .
    He added, "The second meeting of Parliament dealt with Iran's attacks on the headquarters of the eastern Kurdistan parties, and this meeting ended without results, as this confirms that Iraq cannot protect its sovereignty and dignity, as the Minister of Defense and the Chief of Staff of the army were invited to Parliament, and they clearly said that the Iraqi army is not at the level of protecting itself, and under the pretext of the presence of the opposing forces, neighboring countries can easily cross the border.”
    He continued, "Unfortunately, neighboring countries do not protect civilians and refugees in the camps."
    Representative Soran Omar touched on the people who lost their lives as a result of the attacks, and said, “We tried to count the citizens as martyrs, and at the same time, we demanded their compensation, and we officially submitted this request to the government and the leadership of the Iraqi parliament. Representatives of the victims visited the Iraqi parliament in the past days and we provided them with support.” .
