This came in a press conference held by Shukri, during which he reviewed the activities of the Investment Authority in the region during the year 2022, which is nearing completion.
Shukri said during the conference that the commission has established an investment fund, with the approval of the President of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Masrour Barzani.
He added, "We seek to present a draft investment law in a manner consistent with international quality standards in order to attract the best foreign investments to the Kurdistan Region."
Shoukry also indicated that the Investment Authority provided more than 130,000 job opportunities in the region during the current year.
He went on to say that out of a total of 89 investment projects, we had only two foreign projects during the year 2022, considering that the percentage of foreign investments is small and that more work should be done to attract foreign investments, indicating that 75 percent of the investments are local.
Shoukry pointed out that this year, the authority canceled 13 investment licenses that did not meet the conditions.
He also said that in the year 2022 lands were allocated to 8 industrial zones by ministries, institutions and departments in the Kurdistan Region.
