Prime Minister Muhammad Shia al-Sudani said today, Tuesday, that the Iraqi dinar is “stronger” than the dollar, while urging citizens not to acquire dollars.
And Al-Sudani said, in excerpts from a special interview on the official channel, broadcast this evening, “We assure citizens that they do not acquire dollars, and that the dinar is stronger,” adding: “We will return the dollar to its official price, save it, and we will return merchants and businessmen to legitimate trade.”
The dollar exchange rates are witnessing a jump, following measures taken by the US Federal Bank against Iraqi banks, to monitor the movement of the dollar in the country.
And Al-Sudani continued, in the colloquial dialect, “Any official who does not provide solutions to a specific problem, we tell him to rely.”
He continued, "Iraq does not need combat forces," noting that "the budget law will guarantee cash subsidies that go to the families of the poor."
