    Baghdad today - Baghdad
The deputy head of the Iraqi National Investment Commission, Salar Muhammad Amin, said: "Iraq will develop work with Turkish companies and investors, if Ankara cooperates with Baghdad on the issue of water."
Amin said in a press statement that: "The delegation accompanying the Prime Minister on his visit to Turkey includes the ministries of" transport, water resources, housing, construction, defense, the National Security Agency and the National Investment Authority.
He explained, "The discussions will deal with three axes, which are trade relations, where there is a very large exchange between the two countries amounting to about 20 billion dollars, and Iraq is a very large market for Turkey, and water and releases of the Tigris and Euphrates rivers, specifically the Euphrates, whose water releases are very few, in addition to security relations between the two sides.
He pointed out, "The prime minister will also meet with Turkish investors and businessmen," calling on "Turkish companies to invest in Iraq, and we are a country that needs foreign investors, and Turkey is a good option for us due to its proximity to Iraq and it has very good companies that we can work with."
Amin continued: "We will discuss the water file in detail with President Erdogan, because the issue of water is important for Iraq, and they must cooperate with us in this field, and take into account the fact that Iraq constitutes a large market for Turkish companies, and we will tell them: If you cooperate with us on an issue." Water, we will develop work with Turkish companies and investors.
He expressed his belief that "the Turkish side has taken good steps to help Iraq to increase the percentage of water releases and return it to its previous state, because failure to reach a result in this regard would mean a major disaster."
The Prime Minister, Muhammad Shia' al-Sudani, arrived in Ankara today at the head of a senior government delegation on a two-day official visit, at the invitation of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein said that the files that Al-Sudani will discuss in Turkey are "the relations between Baghdad and Ankara in the areas of security, Sinjar, and water."
