    Baghdad - Nas
Iraq is currently living in an atmosphere of anticipation of what the great regional settlement will reach, after the Saudi-Iranian agreement, and how it will be reflected on the Iraqi interior and the equation between the various “political centers”, which is what the leader of the “Sadr movement” Muqtada al-Sadr is watching, waiting for an opportunity to return to an effective role after his retirement from politics. According to sources for the Saudi newspaper, Asharq Al-Awsat.

"Reliable" Iraqi sources told the newspaper, followed by "NAS" (March 31, 2023), that the prospects for a regional settlement encourage the government of Muhammad Shia'a al-Sawadni to "closer his relationship with the armed Shiite factions" in the hope of linking them more with state institutions. The sources expected that Al-Sudani's "regional encouragement" to contain the factions would lead to a change in the balance of power within the Shiite environment, which might include going to the next elections with alliances that would bring him together with forces such as "Asa'ib Ahl al-Haq", led by Qais Khazali.

These changes impose a different political reality on the leader of the "Sadr movement", but it is not clear whether he has cards that would enable him to rein in the "coordination framework", which is now expanding longitudinally in political life.

Those close to al-Sadr believe that the effect of the settlement on Iraq will not be long-term, and that he "focuses more on reading the internal scene and moving to create a new political actor role in the future."

The sources told the newspaper that media outlets close to Tehran had received "new instructions to stop attacking Gulf countries and personalities."

She also added, "The new approach includes stopping escalation and avoiding going into details of active files in the region, the Yemeni file, for example."

Last week, the governments of Baghdad and Erbil reached an agreement to pay the salaries of employees of the Kurdistan region, which informed sources said was part of a deal "approved by the coordination framework, in a side reflection of the regional settlement."

According to deputies from the "coordinating framework", the settlement between Erbil and Baghdad is the basis for the emerging alliance on the ruins of the absence of the Sadrist movement.
