    Economy News _ Baghdad
The Parliamentary Finance Committee, together with the Ministry of Finance, is studying the shift from working on a paper-based system to electronic automation, especially in the customs and tax departments and border crossings.
The head of the Finance Committee, Atwan Al-Atwani, said in an interview with Al-Sabah, followed by Al-Eqtisad News, that the committee hosted Finance Minister Taif Sami and discussed with her important topics, the most important of which is the committee’s planning to maximize non-oil revenues, especially with regard to taxes and customs. He added that the Finance Committee is working seriously to automate the tax and customs departments and all spending units in order to have complete control over the ports and achieve an increase in revenues.
He explained that the Finance Committee is preparing to hold specialized workshops to study how to advance the state benefits collection sector by moving from the paper system to the electronic system to reduce routine, shorten time, and reduce corruption and personal dealings between the citizen and the employee in charge of following up on taxes. Therefore, the committee is working seriously on shifting to the digital world and automating it. Regarding state ministries, especially the Ministry of Finance.
Al-Atwani pointed out that there are unofficial outlets in the Kurdistan region that have begun to affect the state’s revenues, and the government is keen and working to make the revenues a reality and represent a large number, pointing out that the amount of 17 trillion dinars, which represents the planning figure for non-oil revenues, is very small, given that Dollar sales are large, so it is assumed that there will be large returns, and therefore the government is still working to impose its control regarding outlets throughout the country.
